Who we are
The Northern Ireland Working Group on Nebuliser Care and Hygiene in Cystic Fibrosis was established in the Spring of 2016. The Working Group includes healthcare professionals from several disciplines from the CF multidisciplinary team (MDT).
The mission of the Working Group is to "bring together healthcare professionals from Northern Ireland with a professional interest in the care and hygiene of nebulisers, related to cystic fibrosis in both the paediatric and adult settings, in order to examine various aspects, including (i). optimal nebuliser care, including cleaning and disinfection of nebulisers in both the home and in-patient settings and (ii). adherence to nebuliser care amongst CF patients, in order to drive best practice and better outcomes for our patients.” The aims of the Working Group include:- To independently consider existing and emerging scientific evidence & best practice relating to nebuliser care and hygiene, To develop robust and pragmatic policy for nebuliser care and hygiene for CF patients, which translates into effective Standard Operating Procedures for nebuliser care & hygiene, To drive best practice and better outcomes in people with CF, relating to the care of their nebuliser. |
